 When a woman decides to cease using chemical contraception, whether the Pill, implants or injections, it is likely that her fertility will not immediately return to normal. She may have regular bleeds, but not observe the normal mucus changes indicating fertility. She may have long, irregular cycles, with patches of mucus, but no recognisable Peak. Almost any pattern can be seen. As always your Billings Ovulation Method™ tutor will be your best friend in helping to identify what is happening. She will support you through any difficulties and assist you to understand the correct application of the guidelines.
The good news is that in most cases time will heal whatever problems have been caused by the chemical contraceptives and normal fertility will return, provided the woman is not already beyond the age of her natural fertility. However, the couple may need to be patient to allow time for fertility to return. If you cease contraception but still want to avoid pregnancy, it will simply be a matter of charting accurately and applying the guidelines correctly.
